Kate Spanos joins Rebecca McGowan to dance “Donncha and Celine’s Slip Jig,” a reenactment of the hard shoe slip jig duet danced by Celine Hession and Donncha Donncha O Muimhneacháin at the RTÉ Dublin Studios on December 17, 1972. They are dancing as a part of Tiny & Short: A Drop in the Bucket at The Dance Complex in Cambridge, MA.
Tiny & Short: A Drop in the Bucket invites choreographers and performers alike to investigate the constrictions of space and time as a means to expand choreographic structures and movement invention, and ultimately how they communicate with audiences. Within the casually intimate environment of The Dance Complex’s accessible Studio 7, audiences are immersed in the exciting and dynamic results of these choreographic challenges. There are two constrictions in place Ten Tiny Dances® showcases dances under 5 minutes in length, taking place solely on a 4X4ft stage, and Short Works features performances less than 3 minutes in length taking place throughout Studio 7 -in corners, in front of windows, and on stairs- and varying in genre and medium.
